Magic Ritual for Sending Positivity To People of Japan

Hachiman, divine protector of Japan & the Japanese People.

A colleague of mine recently gave a paper on Shintoism, which I will not reproduce in its entirety save to say that it has given me exactly the idea as to how, as a magician, to send magical help to the people of Japan. After all – who better to help the Japanese people than their own traditional Gods and Goddesses! Hence I present the following – which is dedicated specifically to Hachiman, who is Japan’s divine protector. Originally an agricultural deity, Hachiman became the Tutelary God of Warriors, although His worship spread through all the social castes so that really He is an all-round protector.

The following is based on the actual procedure employed when one visits a Shinto Shrine.

Access to the sacred space is preceded by a washing of the hands and a rinsing of the mouth, symbolic of purification of the body and of speech or thought.

The symbolic move from the mundane world into the sacred world is through a Torii or gate.

(Comment: This to be visualised.)

You then walk along a roadway, a path used by the spirits or kami.

The first act as you approach the shrine is to throw a coin into an offering container.

(Comment: You could visualise it … although you might choose to make your offering more actual than symbolic.)

You then bow deeply twice to show your respect to HACHIMAN, clap hands twice at chest level to gain His attention; then worship and ask for what you wish from the Him …

i.e. Safety for the Japanese people, comfort for those injured, worried or grieving, success for the emergency services and relief operations, safety also for other countries in the Pacific, etc

… and then bow deeply twice before retiring from the shrine.

The Bornless Ritual

The famous “Bornless Ritual,” otherwise known as the “Preliminary Invocation of the Goetia” is a subject about which I have written before. Now however I want to share with you the results of some discoveries I  made when I was doing some scholarly research in London just the other day. Although the Bornless Ritual was made famous by Aleister Crowley in his edition of the Goetia of The Lesser Key of Solomon in 1904, it was in fact  in circulation amongst the Adepti of the original Golden Dawn, i.e. Isis-Urania Temple – thus indicating that it was yet another GD teaching that Crowley half-inched.

For example: a copy of the Bornless Ritual may be found in the Library & Museum of Freemasonry amongst the papers of the Rev Ayton, bound in the same volume in which I found A Method of Vibrating Adonai Ha-Aretz To Unite Yourself with your Personal Kether.

Now it so happens that Israel Regardie, in his book The Golden Dawn constructed a Z2 Spiritual Development ritual based around the Bornless Ritual – however, when comparing this to the original GD manuscripts which I have seen it is clear that Regardie’s approach is overly sophisticated. The Adepti of the original GD would in fact simply perform the ritual without adornment – save that at key-points, they would make the Kerubic Sigils with their elemental tools. Moreover the version circulated within the original GD retains the correct spellings of the “Barbarous Names of Evocation” which unfortunately Regardie’s version does not have. (I mention this because one of the themes with which I was concerned when I wrote about the Bornless Ritual previously was the “Barbarous Names” may well have significance in terms of Isopsephos, i.e. Greek Gematria).

Hence: I present below a transcription of “The Bornless Ritual” as it would have been used within the original GD.

An Extremely Powerful Invocation For Daily Use And Work

Thee I invoke, the Bornless One! Thee that didst create the Earth and the Heavens, Thee that didst create the Night and the Day, Thee that didst create the Darkness and the Light.
Thou art Osorronophris, whom no man hath seen at any time. Thou art Iabas; thou art Iapos.

Thou hast distinguished between the Just and the Unjust. Thou didst make the Female and the Male. Thou didst produce the Seed and the Fruit. Thou didst form Men to love one another, and to hate one another.

Hear thou me, for I am Mosheh thy servant, unto whom Thou hast committed thy Mysteries, the ceremonies of Israel.

Thou hast produced the moist and the dry, and that which nourisheth all created life. Hear me, for I am the Angel of Paphro Osorronophris: this is Thy true name, handed down to the prophets of Israel.

[Handwritten: Aquarius symbol with the words “with Air Dagger.”]
Hear me: Ar, Thiao, Rheibet, Atheleberseth, A, Blatha, Abeu, Ebeu, Phi, Chitasoe, Ib, Thiao.

Hear me and make all spirits subject unto me: so that every spirit of the firmament and of the ether; upon the Earth and under the Earth; on dry land or in the water; of whirling air or of rushing fire; and every spell and scourge of God may be obedient unto me.

[Handwritten: Leo-symbol with words “with Wand.”]
I invoke Thee, the terrible and invisible God who dwellest in the void place of spirit: Arogogorobrao, Sothou, Modorio, Phalarchao, Ooo, Ape, The Bornless One.

Hear me and make all spirits subject unto me … (etc)

[Handwritten: symbol of Eagle’s head, with words “with Cup.”]
Hear me: Roubriao, Mariodam, Balbnabaoth, Assalonai, Aphniao, I, Thoteth, Abrasax, Aeoou, Ischara, Mighty and Bornless One.

Hear me and make all spirits subject unto me … (etc)

[Handwritten: Taurus-symbol, with words “with Pentacle.”]
I invoke Thee: Ma, Barraio, Ioel, Kotha, Athorebalo, Abraoth.

Hear me and make all spirits subject unto me … (etc)

[Handwritten: Spirit-symbol, with words “on ground with Incense.”]
Hear me: Aoth, Abaoth, Basum, Isak, Sabaoth, IAO.

This is the Lord of the Gods;
This is the Lord of the Universe;
This is He Whom the winds fear;
This is He Who, having made Voice by His commandment, is Lord of all things – king, ruler and helper.

Hear me and make all spirits subject unto me … (etc)

[Handwritten: Spirit-symbol, with words “in air above with Incense.”]
Hear me: Ieou, Pur, Iou, Pur, Iaot, Iaeo, Ioou, Abrasax, Sabriam, Oo, Uu, Adonaie, Ede, Edu, Angelos Ton Theon, Anlala Lai, Gaia, Apa, Diachanna Chorun.

I am He, the Bornless Spirit! Having sight in the feet – strong, and the Immortal Fire!
I am He, the Truth!
I am He, who hate that evil should be wrought in the world.
I am He who lighteneth and thundereth.
I am He from whom is the shower of the life on Earth.
I am He whose mouth ever flameth.
I am He, the Begetter and Manifester unto the Light.
I am He, the Grace of the World.

“The Heart Girt with a Serpent” is My name.

Come thou forth and follow me, and make all spirits subject unto me, so that every spirit of the firmament and of the ether, upon the Earth and under the Earth, on dry land and in the water, of whirling air and of rushing fire, and every spell and scourge of God, may be obedient unto me.

IAO. Sabao. Such are the words!

Dog of Evil

Here's one I evoked earlier...

As part of the ritual for his Evocation of Bartzabel, the Spirit of Mars, Aleister Crowley conjured up what was referred to as “The Dog of Evil.” The question naturally arises “why?” and “where did this portion of ritual come from?” The first part may be partially answered by looking at its place in the context of the ritual. Crowley and his chums are busy building up a powerful wall of protection against the potentially dangerous forces they intend to evoke – hence they call upon a magical Guard Dog – the eponymous Dog of Evil – to protect them.

The original source is one of the Papyri (? 501?) in the Harris collection. Israel Regardie referred to it in his book The Tree of Life as a method of banishment used by Egyptian priests, and then purported to transcribe it  “verbatim from the Papyrus.”

However, I now have reason to doubt that Regardie was being entirely accurate when he said that he got it verbatim from the Papyrus – for two reasons. The first is the obvious one – his description of the ritual is in English, a language unknown to the ancient Egyptians! I was not actually aware that Regardie was able to read Hieroglyphics – but this is by the by.

I also have evidence which I am not at liberty to publicly reveal.

A RITUAL OF BANISHMENT

To be performed in the South, North, West and East, with the formulation of a guardian in the shape of a dog that was to be terrible to all attacking forces:

“Arise, Dog of Evil, that I may instruct thee in they present duties. Thou art imprisoned. Confess thou that it is so. Horus it is who has given this commandment. Let thy face be terrible as the storm-parted sky. Let thy jaws close pitilessly. Make sacrifice as the God Her-Shafi. Massacre as the Goddess Anata. May thy hair stand up like rods of fire. Be thou great as Horus and terrible as Set.
Equally to the South, to the North, to the West and to the East.
The whole land belongs unto thee. Nothing shall stop thee, whilst thou settest thy face in my defence: while thou settest thy face against savage beasts; while thou settest thy face to protect my paths, opposing thyself to the enemy.
I bestow upon thee the power of vanishing, of becoming noiseless and invisible. For thou art my guardian, courageous and terrible.”

Major New Website Update

You now have the chance to look at not just one but two new pages on my website – both of which represent some of the magical work I have been doing over the past year or so.

Firstly, there is the latest instalment in my series on skrying with the Enochian being EHNB. This being quite involved, I felt it needed a page of its own – which I have entitled Cosmic Alchemy. The reason I did not publish it sooner was because this update involved me doing some extra magical work which, due to an electional chart I drew up, I could only accomplish last weekend.

Secondly, there is a piece which represents my first tentative thoughts on a new theory of the Tattvas – which I have entitled Saptantattva (“The Seven Elements”). I include this because it has been colouring my outlook on magic recently.

Both these pieces can be accessed from the Articles page of this website.

Today is Cosmic Saturday, aka Galactic Centre Day

Today the Earth, Sun and the centre of the Galaxy are all in alignment – as I explained in a previous blog post. I personally got up early so that I was ready for dawn – when I did some Enochian Theurgical working – which is related to my EHNB work. A full report shall be coming anon!

Galactic Centre Day 2011

This blog post came about partly as a result of a conversation with the writer Mike Crowson. Apparently he had unearthed some parapsychological research that says that psychic phenomena tend to increase when the centre of the Galaxy is rising on the horizon. Why this should be so neither he, I, nor the authors of the research were aware, but apparently there was statistical correlation for the assertion.

Now the Galactic Centre can be plotted astronomically – it is where the the belt of the Milky Way cuts the Ecliptic between the end of the constellation of Sagittarius and the beginning of that of Capricorn. Astrologically the Milky Way has figured in the myths of various cultures since ancient times, being thought of as the River of Souls up which we traverse in our post-mortem existence. The example par excellence is Ancient Egypt where it was considered to be the “Heavenly Nile.” The fact that the Milky Way cut the ecliptic at approximately the same point as where the Sun changes direction at the winter solstice did not escape the ancients: they believed that 0º Capricorn and 0º Cancer (approximately where the other end of the Milky Way crosses the ecliptic) were “Soul Gateways.”

Pentagram, with elemental attributions.

Here I depart from what Mike came up with and inserted my own findings (in other words – don’t blame him for the following). The pentagram, you will notice, has the elements Fire, Water, Air and Earth in a particular order – starting in the lower right point and reading widdershins. Why are they in this particular order and not another? It is because they correspond to the Kerubic signs of the Zodiac. That is to say, if Leo corresponds to the Fire point, Scorpio will correspond to the Water point, Aquarius the Air and Taurus the Earth points. This can be illustrated by the following crude diagram:

Pentagram (approximately) drawn on the belt of the Zodiac.

Now you notice that if the preceding is given, where the fifth point of Spirit lies? 0º Capricorn, the Galactic Centre and one of the two Soul Gateways! We thus have an occult explanation, or at least a theory, why the Galactic Centre appears to be connected with psychic phenomena, although this still raises the question why this should be so, and whether the connection with the Pentagram is not just an almighty coincidence. After all, the belt of the Zodiac only appears the way it does from our vantage point on Earth. Go anywhere else in the galaxy and they do not perceive the same constellations as we do. Unless the influence of the Galactic Centre has somehow managed to cause archetypal images in our collective unconscious, or influenced the formation of our solar system to  a Paranormal degree, or both.

Why am I going on about the Galactic centre though, I hallucinate that I hear you ask. Well – it just so happens that the Earth, Sun and the Galactic Centre will all be in alignment on Saturday 15th January 2011 – just two weeks hence. This is the moment when the Sun is at 0º Capricorn in the Sidereal Zodiac (Fagan-Bradley system), nb not the Tropical Zodiac – which would have been the Solstice, 21st December 2010. By using a sidereal system this more closely approximates actual astronomy than a tropical system. We thus have the exciting possibility that on that at dawn on that day our Solar System will be aligned with the Galactic Centre, and we will be able to accomplish great works of a psychic nature.

Cornucopia

The Cornucopia, symbol of prosperity and abundance.

The Cornucopia (“Horn of Plenty”) is the ancient symbol of prosperity and abundance. ‘Tis said that a Goat protected Zeus during his upbringing: in grateful thanks he (a) cast the Goat into the Heavens to become the sign Capricorn and (b) made one of its horns a neverending supply of all things good.

May the symbol of the Cornucopia become as a thought-form which attracts all things good to you in the forthcoming year and beyond.

Happy New Year! 🙂

The Other Royal Wedding 2011

This is a follow up to my post regarding my recommended date for William & Kate’s Wedding in 2011. If you will recollect, I recommended Friday October 7th, based on electional astrology: it was on the day and hour of Venus, when the Moon is waxing and forms a favourable aspect (trine) with not only Venus the planet of Love but also a whole host of other planets including Saturn, Mercury and the Sun. HRH & Miss Middleton decided to ignore my advice and go instead for April 29th, on the flimsy reason that it is St Catherine’s Day. Honestly! However the good news for the rest of us is that Friday October 7th is now available to be used for “The Other Royal Wedding” of 2011.

I am of course talking about that between Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris.

Heff, I have assumed you will be basically wanting to hold the ceremony in Los Angeles so I have worked out the best time for you and Crystal: 1.39pm local time Los Angeles, on the aforesaid date (Friday October 7th).

A note to all those interested in electional astrology. This is a slightly different time than the one I mentioned in my previous post because the planetary hours have to be worked out according to when sunrise and sunset occur in a given location – in this instance Los Angeles. This is not just a different longitude  (and hence a timezone) from London but also a different latitude as well. Fortunately there are websites which exist which can perform the necessary calculations.

A note to all those who read this post and thought I was referring to Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall. Unfortunately there is an extremely good reason why they cannot get married on “LoveFriday2011” – it’s in the middle of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand! Zara and Mike thus have the opposite problem – even if Mike did want to quickly get hitched between England games, what with timezones and everything they would have to do so at about 10 o’clock at night, or something like that.
