Conjuring Demons for Love

The Goetia of the Lesser Key of Solomon the King

Romance is in the air. Something is in the air, at any rate, because several unusual things have been happening in the world lately. Anywho, by careful analysis of the traffic to my website I have come to the conclusion that most people who are interested in Black Magick are looking for LOVE (see my remarks on Zepar below). I have therefore decided to go through my notes on my favourite grimoire, the Goetia, and compile a list of all the Demons who are said to procure love in one form or another.

I should point out that over the years I have evoked all 72 of the spirits at one time or another, if for no other reason than to investigate what the spirit was all about. I do not work with all 72 spirits, because as a result of my investigations I have realised that I have an affinity with a small number but not with the rest. However, the small number that I do work with are satisfying enough for me to be getting on with.

It would be irresponsible of me not to point out that the elaborate manner of workng described in the Goetia – the Circle, Triangle, the prescribed preparations and conjurations, etc – is a set of safeguards for ensuring that ceremonial magick is conducted safely and responsibly. However, the biggest safeguard is one not mentioned in the grimoire itself, and that is the Intent of the Magician. Goetic spirits are powerful. And dangerous. They are dangerous because they are powerful. If a magician went into a ceremony with a Bad Intention – or worse, a Badly-formed Intention – the results could be disastrous, and causing much evil as well.

As you read the notes below, you ought to realise that magick is not simply about getting laid. There are four words for Love in Greek – Agape (charitable love), Philia (love between friends and equals), Storge (love between parents and children), and Eros (romantic or sexual love): the spirits of the Goetia assist in procuring all four kinds, not just the last one. According to my own work with these spirits, they do not just indulge the capricious whims of the individual, but also help procuring love between peoples and nations as well.

Finally I should point out that I present these notes for information only. I personally have never resorted to any of these spirits for amatory purposes. I personally believe that the Law of Attraction pure and simple is far and away the most effective, especially if you are trying to cosmically order a romantic partner at the same time that the romantic partner is cosmically ordering you.

Amon

7 Amon

‘…[H]e tells of all things past & to come, and procures love, and reconciles controversies between friends & foes…’

I noted that Amon’s imagery is primarily Mercurial, e.g. the Wolf and the Raven, even though a Marquis Amon would supposedly by associated with Luna. I would suggest that Amon be evoked in order to facilitate love through communication, or to put it another way, ‘gaming’ on the object of one’s affections.

12 Sitri

‘…[H]e puts on a humane shape very Beautiful, Inflaming Men with women’s Love, and women with men’s love, and causes them to shew themselves Naked, if it be desired…’

Unfortunately I haven’t got much or indeed any notes for working with Sitri, so for me this spirit didn’t create much of an impression.

13 Beleth

“This king Beleth causes all the love that possible may be, both of Men and women till the Master Exorcist hath had his mind fulfilled…”

I should advise caution when dealing with Beleth in regards to love. On the one hand Beleth’s influence can make one feel positive, and has a definite erotic tone to it as well. However: I also noted that Beleth has a dark side, being responsible for obsessive love, or the kind which is not real but an illusion or glamour.

15 Eligor

[H]e causes the love of Lords and great persons…’

I.e. probably more relevant to gaining power and influence than for Eros, per se. A ritual for evoking Eligor appears in Shall We Kill The President?

16 Zepar

‘… [H]is office is to cause women to love Men and to bring them together in love; he also makes them barren…’

Another post on my website mentioning Zepar seems to get an unhealthy amount of clicks on it, although it is not about Zepar per se but Goetia in general. I must assume that there are a goodly amount of perverts visiting this site who want to get laid but do not want the hassle of fathering children. Guys, the magic word you’re really looking for is ‘contraception’ – look it up some time, you will also be helping to stop the spread of sexually-transmitted diseases.

‘Well, hello! Is that a crocodile you’re sitting on, or are you just pleased to see me?’

19 Saleos

‘He causes the love of women to men & men to women…’

I noted when evoking him that I could psychically detect Saleos’ erotic influence, which to my mind make him potentially a powerful demon to conjure.

25 Glasya-Labolas

‘He … tells all Things past & to come, if desired, & causes love of friends and foes…”

Glasya-Labolas is a formidable demon: I noted that when I evoked him I experienced several spontaneous Out-of-Body-Experiences afterwards. However, Glasya-Labolas is also feted as ‘an author of bloodshed and manslaughter,’ so clearly all is not sweetness and light with this Spirit.

‘…[H]e makes men to be beloved of their foes as well as they be by their Friends…’

30 Forneus

‘…[H]e makes men to be beloved of their foes as well as they be by their Friends…’

Forneus is actually said to appear in the form of a ‘sea-monster’ – in my magical record I noted that he is the real-life inspiration behind stories of Great Cthulhu, so perhaps not one to be evoked to visible appearance on a regular basis.

33 Gaap

‘..[H]e can cause love or hatred…’

One for the highschool sweethearts out there. Gaap appeared to my mental vision as a mediaeval doctor, which is not dissimilar to the garb that doctors of learning still wear at graduation ceremonies at modern universities. Although the evocation was pleasant at the time, I note that in my dream-life it stirred up memories of my own thoughts and feelings regarding my time at school – suggesting that Gaap can lead one to resolve issues relating to that time in one’s life.

Furfur

34 Furfur

‘He … will willingly make love between man & wife…’

I.e. in the sense of causing love – if one were in any doubt. I myself noted that Furfur’s main power is that of raising Thunder, Lightning, Blasts and great Tempestuous storms.’ My main experience of this was in the form of psychic Lightning etc – not to be weaponised against others, but to explode one’s own Ego in a great blast of self-transformation.

40 Raum

‘[H]is office is … to cause Love between friends & foes…’

Raum is a powerful spirit. His reputed powers, which include stealing treasure out of kings’ houses, along with his ability, have caused many to invest him with their hopes and thus their collective energy. I noted when evoking him that he is in fact not just some spirit to help people get laid, but has great potential to cause social change – help make the world a better place, and so forth.

Vual

47 Vuall

‘[H]is office is to procure the love of women…’

In my magical record I appear to have written VUALL IS POWERFUL in underlined capitals (which would normally mean that I got a strong psychic contact when first evoking him). So powerful in fact that Vual could potentially bring about world peace!

Gemory

56 Gemory

‘She*… procures the love of women, both young & old…’

* Although in the original text Gemory is described with masculine terminology, this demon is also described as appearing in the form of a ‘beautiful woman.’ One must remember that this inelegance of language is due to the fact that this grimoire was written over four hundred years before political correctness, when there were only four Genders, Sociology was not considered a subject, and being described as ‘home-schooled’ implied that you were of noble birth and had received a decent education in your father’s castle or palace.

But I digress.

The powers of the spirits of the Goetia often seem to be removed from reality as regards ordinary men and women in the street – e.g. blasting cities with lightning bolts, raising armies – what good is that? This has led some to believe that these are metaphorical – however, this is not the case. They are meant literally – they are powers which would have proved useful to a King or nobleman, who, at the time the grimoire was written, apart from those educated in a monastery, would have been the only people capable of being able to read such a grimoire! This is why when one reads old grimoires, one can discern that they fall into one of two camps – either ‘Royal’ or ‘Sacerdotal’ i.e. they assume that the intended reader is either of royal or noble birth (such as the Goetia of the Lesser Key of Solomon), or that they have a priestly or clerical background (such as the Heptameron or Sworn Book of Honorius).

In this sense, a nobleman would turn to Gemory to seek help in finding a woman of noble birth, fit to be a princess – this being a major concern of the nobility at the time.

On a more prosaic level, I note that I had vivid astral phenomena of a not-unpleasant nature occur to me after I evoked Gemory, so I rather suspect him – or her – to be a powerful spirit.

71 Dantalion

‘[H]e can cause love…’

While this may be true, I noted that Dantalion’s power of thought control to be more significant. On the benign side one might be able to direct that power inwards upon oneself, in order to achieve perfect mastery of concentration. On the less attractive side it would suggest that Dantalion tends to cause love by unpalatable means.

How can you time travel in a lucid dream? (Quora.com)

(A2A) I tried this once, and was pleasantly surprised by how successful it was! The basic technique is the same as how you do anything in a lucid dream: by carefully using self-suggestion before going to sleep one can influence the content of one’s dream. In this case I gave myself the suggestion: “I am able to travel through time whilst dreaming.”

So I fell asleep, started dreaming and became Lucid. I then willed myself to travel forward in time, imagining that I was physically going to a place where I knew I would be meeting someone in real life the next day. Once I got there I noticed what they were doing, how they were behaving, etc. Eventually I woke up.

So I then went to this actual meeting. The other person was completely unaware that anything supernatural has occurred or was occurring. But they did behave in the way I had observed them behaving in my lucid dream.

So one may argue that I didn’t physically travel through time and space whilst lucid dreaming. However, I do believe that the very act of at least attempting to do so gave me some knowledge of the future.

Alchemy and Reincarnation

Cover of 'Horror at Fontenay' by Alexandre Dumas, part of the The Dennis Wheatley Library of the Occult

Insert joke about cutting off the Caput Mortuum here…

In 1849, Alexandre Dumas père, he of ‘The Three Musketeers’ renown, came out with one of his lesser known works, ‘A Thousand and One Phantoms,’ at least part of which is now published in English as a slim volume entitled ‘Horror at Fontenay.‘ The original title hints at the nature of the work, in that it is a series of short stories, but unlike the Arabian Nights they are mostly macabre stories, skirting around the supernatural, focussing on Death. One gets the impression that in the same way that H P Lovecraft used his own horror stories to work through his dread – and survivor’s guilt – over World War I, Dumas is here using this collection to work through his own feelings as regards the Reign of Terror, which happened almost sixty years previously (or forty years before the story-collection is set).

Anywho, that is by-the-by. This slim volume had lain untouched on my bookshelf for some time, after I purchased it as part of a job-lot some years ago, when I was drawn, as if by some Occult Hand (i.e. my own) to pick it up. What most interested me was that one of the characters in the book – acting as one Dumas’ participants in the Symposium of Death thus presented – was the real-life occultist Jean Alliette, better known as ‘Etteila’ of Tarot fame. Alliette, the character, prefaces his own macabre tale by remarking to a fellow story-teller:

“My dear Moulle,” he exclaimed, “I have considerable venerations for your opinions and appreciate your story. In fact I accept it at its face value. But you seem to overlook completely the very important point that life is not destroyed by death, which merely disintegrates the human body. The personality remains; and ultimately death destroys only memory, that is all! If memory were not effaced life could become very complicated – for we should all remember every onve of our past lives, right from the beginning of time to the present day. Which probably explains why we feel animosity or love, on sight, for people we don’t know. It’s really a kind of unconscious recognition…

“The Philosopher’s Stone is another name for the secret of this memory – a secret uncovered by Pythagoras, centuries ago, and recently rediscovered by Saint-Germain and Cagliostro – not to mention myself, for I also hold possession of the key. But I am an unusual case; for though my bodies may die, as they have already done several times, each one exists for a much longer period that that of the average individual.”

This being a work of fiction, supposedly, one has to ask oneself how much of this is Dumas putting words into Aliette’s mouth, and how much what Aliette either did or would have spoken in real-life? One should bear in mind that this was written over a decade before Eliphas Levi began to popularise occultism in France: hence Dumas would have had to be very discerning as to his sources – if he were not an initiate himself.

But why, though, should being able to recall one’s past-lives be called the Philosopher’s Stone at all? Not because it turns lead into gold per se, but because of the other main property that it is reputed to have, that of creating the Elixir Vitae. By consciously experiencing Death, repeatedly – and coming to the realisation that the soul survives and continues regardless – one overcomes the fear of Death, and thus one experiences the ontological effect of Immortality – and hence the ‘Elixir of Life’ by metaphor.

Hence it creates Gold in the sense that what it does confer is a treasure more valuable than mundane riches – not just immortality whether pretended or not, but the beneficial character changes that knowing that death is not the end brings in the here and now.

Manifestation

This is an experimental video project. The soundtrack is an “isochronic tone” intended to aid “Manifestation” (cosmic ordering, creative visualisation, “the Secret” etc). The images are selected to represent positive goals which will benefit both the individual and the whole planet, e.g.

* Success (sporting endeavour)
* Abundance
* Love
* Peace
* Respect (for others and for the planet)

Recommended for meditation.

Cosmic Ordering Calendar 2018

Some eight years ago I first came up with the idea of devising one’s own Cosmic Ordering Calendar. As a reaction against some of the cynical and trashy novelty calendars that were then doing the rounds, I thought, why not create one’s own calendar to do something noble like manifest one’s goals and aspirations?

Example of a blank photo calendar

Needless to say, I am currently using the break between Christmas and New Year’s Eve to prepare my Calendar for 2018. I’ve found that a great deal of the work can be done for you by getting photo calendars, which are available from major stationers: their intent was for you to put twelve cute pictures of your family on it and send it to your relatives. However, the Cosmic Orderer can subvert this and put twelve pictures of what one wants to manifest in the forthcoming year.

How was Enochian magic invented? – Quora

So first of all there was this guy called Doctor John Dee (1527 – 1609) who was obsessed with acquiring knowledge. After he had received the best education that was available in Tudor England, and had built up the largest library in the country at the time – he still wanted more. So he resorted to the Occult to get it.

Round about 1582 he met Edward Kelley (1555 – 1597) who helped him “skry” i.e. Dee would make the conjurations and ask the questions, whilst Kelley reported what he saw in Dee’s crystal ball. Over the next few years they reported that Angels gave them or described to them:

  • A magical seal, containing the names of Angels and planetary spirits (the “Sigillum Dei Aemeth”)
  • A Holy Table, inscribed with letters from a magical language derived from the names of –
  • 49 Good Angels
  • Another table, the Table of Nalvage;
  • More tables of letters (Liber Logaeth), from which were derived –
  • A giant table of Angel names, divided into four Watchtowers; plus a “black cross” (referred to by later interpreters of Dee’s work as the Tablet of Union);
  • A method of dividing the known world into 91 parts, grouped in thirty “aethyrs”;
  • Forty Eight Angelic calls, i.e. eighteen calls plus thirty to invoke the thirty aethyrs (the last thirty are practically identical except the name of the aethyr is changed each time.

These represent the totality of original “Enochian Magic.” The Enochian language is the supposed language of the Forty Eight Angelic calls – and which has correspondances with the earlier 49 Good Angels as well: whilst the Enochian alphabet comprises the letter first used on the Holy Table.

Some good books to read on the subject:

John Dee’s Five Books of Mystery – details how Dee and Kelley derived everything up to the Table of Nalvage;

Dr John Dee’s Spiritual Diaries 1583 – 1608 – a modern reprint of “A True and Faithfull Relation…” which details the latter half of Dee and Kelley’s adventures; and

Enochian Vision Magick – an account by a modern occultist (Lon Milo Duquette) as to how one would go about becoming an Enochian magician.

Fafnir

Following straight on from my last post

Kether, in the TOLPIAS system, is the “north pole of the ecliptic” as opposed to the celestial north pole. The co-ordinates for Kether can thus be worked out precisely as 18h 00 Right Ascension, +66º 30′ Declination.

This can be shown on a star map here. Focus on the exact centre of the screen as you zoom in and out. It turns out – as expected – to be right in the middle of the constellation Draco. Below is a rather unhelpful NASA photograph of the same co-ordinates:

Kether

It’s the dot in the centre.

The nearest star to those co-ordinates is 42 Draconis, otherwise known as Fafnir, named after the dwarf who turned into a dragon. Curiously it has a planet, 42 Draconis B, supposedly named “Orbitar,” for no particularly good reason, other than some astronomical society submitted it as the winning entry in a naming competition.

It seems like the occult community missed a trick here, by not getting its act together!

One curious fact about Fafnir is that it may be Kether to us, but it is the (Northern) Pole Star for the Planet Venus.

Incidentally, if you are wondering, “Malkuth” in the TOLPIAS system would be at 6h RA, -66º 30′ Dec, which is closest to the star Eta-1 Doradus in the constellation Dorado, the Swordfish (or Dolphin) – also the (Southern) Pole Star for Venus.

Aliens and the Golden Dawn

You have the power to contact alien beings and extraterrestrial intelligences, using the Magic of the Golden Dawn! In fact, this is exactly what the original teachings of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn were always leading up to!

Seriously: recently I have been investigating the Theoricus Adeptus Minor teaching of the “Tree of Life Projected In A Sphere” – which can be found in Regardie’s The Golden Dawn – and have come to the conclusion that it is no less than a method for astrally projecting ultimately to anywhere in the universe – and all whilst remaining within the GD paradigm.

I will avoid giving a full explanation of the entire “Tree of Life Projected In A Sphere” (which I shall hereinafter abbreviate as “TOLPIAS”) teaching in this particular blog-post, save to say that the basic theory behind contacting Aliens using this method is this: first determine, astronomically, where these Aliens actually are, in terms of the star around which their planet orbits. Given that the TOLPIAS scheme involves mapping the constellations to one’s Sphere of Sensation, it should then be possible to work out the position of the Aliens’ homeworld in relation thereto, and which card of the Tarot would correspond to that particular section of the sky.

The method I have used in my own particular experiments consists of first, working out my horoscope in terms of the “Mathers / Sidereal” system; secondly, during meditation, build-up the TOLPIAS in imagination with myself in the midst thereof, with the degree of my ascendant as determined under the “Mathers / Sidereal” system facing due east. The complete visualisation of TOLPIAS would involve not only imagining the positions of the various Sephiroth, but invoking divine and angelic names as appropriate for each one. This being done, I visualise where the various Tarot cards lie, and then imagine drawing down energy into my Sphere of Sensation by the four-fold Dragon formulae.

At this point I am ready to commence Projecting, which I first do to the appropriate Tarot card. There I establish contact with a spirit-guide – all so far using conventional GD methodology. I then ask the spirit-guide to accompany me to the alien star-system, and to their planet, and have a good old-explore, trying to make contact with local inhabitants, and so-forth. To end the session I travel back with my spirit-guide, and take my leave of him or her in the usual manner.

The Prince of Pentacles from Robert Wang’s Golden Dawn Tarot Deck

A Pleiadian Alien

So, for example, to go visit the Pleiadians on their homeworld one would first project to the “Prince of Pentacles” – one could even imagine that the Prince of Pentacles is taking you in his chariot through space.

The actual utility of attempting to do so I leave to others to determine for themselves. On my first ever attempt to make telepathic contact with aliens, I did not necessarily receive spiritual teachings of cosmic importance, but I did succeed in channeling enough plot-lines for an entire series of a certain popular TV sci-fi show (the producers have yet to get back to me). More seriously I have found that certain spiritual currents do interact with the Earth from outer space – as it were – and that this method is way of interacting with them not just in abstracto but also in the way they manifest upon this planet.

“Mathers / Sidereal”

The positions given in the “Mathers / Sidereal” column in the tables below are worked out in the following manner: the difference in Right Ascension between the position of the star in question, and that of Regulus (Alpha-Leonis) is taken, and converted into Degrees of Longitude. By then assuming Regulus to be 0º of Leo, one can determine the position of the star in question in relation thereto.

This results in a peculiar system of “Sidereal Astrology,” but unlike Sidereal systems which are popular among astrologers today. The primary difference being that in the Fagan-Bradley method, Regulus is assumed to be 5º of Leo – the Lahiri method is almost the same at 5º 53′. If this were so, then the “Age of Aquarius” will occur in approximately 400 years time. However: if MacGregor Mathers’ attribution of Regulus to 0º of Leo is accepted, then the Age of Aquarius is actually beginning (almost literally) now. Mathers’ line of reasoning was that all measurements should be taken from Regulus given that it was the brightest star on the Ecliptic: Regulus also corresponds to one of the four points associated with Tiphereth.

All systems of Sidereal Astrology are attempts to make the astrological zodiac more closely approximate the actual heavens than Tropical Astrology, but they are still approximations only. This is because astrology assumes the zodiac is divided into twelve segments of equal size (i.e. 30º each), whereas in reality the size of each constellation varies greatly. Hence the reason why the Pleiades (for example), although astronomically in the constellation of Taurus, nevertheless falls in the astrological sign of Aries in Mathers’ system of astrology (it would be 29.75º of Aries under Fagan/Bradley).

“Tarot Card”

Given the “Mathers / Sidereal” longitude of the star in question, one can then work out the precise Tarot card by noting its declination in relation to the path of the ecliptic. A decent Star-Map helps greatly here, and by “decent” I mean “more accurate than those given in The Golden Dawn! Two cases in point are the positions of Wolf 1061 and Trappist 1 (see below). These lie so close to the Ecliptic that it is necessary to pin-point exactly where these stars lie in their respective constellations, as it is the difference between the “Prince of Cups” and “Death” on the one hand, and the “Prince of Swords” and “The Star” on the other.

Habitable Exo-Planets

Stars which have been speculated to be orbited by at least one Earth-like planet capable of sustaining life – as found by either the Transit or Radial Velocity methods of detection.

The first set of planets with which I shall deal derive from yer actual Astronomy. At the time of writing (November 2017) there have been 13 exo-planets out of 3,693 so-far detected which Astronomers believe are capable of sustaining life, including three Earth-like planets in the Trappist-1 system alone. (NB this blog post has been edited since then to keep up with latest developments in Exoplanet research – as of December 2020 a further six such planets have been either discovered or newly identified as lying in their star’s habitable zone, including an extra member of the Trappist-1 system.)

The fact that only a small number of constellations appear to have such planets is probably because only a small portion of the Universe has been investigated. Hence if we are going to introduce at least a smidgeon of rationality into this whole business of contacting aliens, it would make sense to start here.

Aliens with whom we are already in contact

Star systems containing Alien Races – as found by “channelling” and other sources.

I now turn to Alien races whose existence has been asserted not by Astronomers or Astrobiologists, but by New Age practitioners and ex-Coventry City footballers. I personally have mixed feelings – some of these alleged alien contacts have inspired the best spiritual teachings of modern times (e.g. the Pleiadians), whilst others have done the most to bring the genre into disrepute – more SewAge than NewAge, as it were. I have a particular bugbear about the significance of Thuban (Alpha Draconis) – it is important in the spiritual history of this planet in more ways than one, but not in the manner alleged by David Icke.

Can 15-year-olds join the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn?

Shared from Quora.com

Q. Can 15-year-olds join the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn?

A. (by Alex Sumner):

(A2A) No – for two reasons:

1. When you are accepted as a member, you are in effect making a contract to abide by the by-laws of the organisation and to stay regular with your subs. Whilst Minors can enter into contracts, they are voidable at will – so no organisation is going to risk a 15-year old flake out on them.

2. Just about every Golden Dawn temple I know either meets on licensed premises or adjourns to one after a hard day’s ritual, so they would not want someone who’s under-age to tag along with them and risk them being refused entry. 🙂

Hegemon, Hierophant and Hiereus!

My advice is simply to keep studying the available Golden Dawn materials for now, such as The Golden Dawn or Self Initiation into the Golden Dawn, and if you are still interested in three years time, apply to join after your 18th birthday.
