Harry Potter books burned by Polish priests alarmed by magic – BBC News

News today that Catholic priests in Poland have been burning books which they associate with magick and witchcraft – starting, inevitably, with Harry Potter.

A Catholic group burns books and artefacts it judges to be symbols of evil sorcery.

Now the fact that burning books is a symptom of a totalitarian, intolerant, etc society has been said before, and sure enough, as soon as the story first broke, the chattering classes said as much on this group’s Facebook page.

However… I say this: what book is an occultist’s prime resource for Gematria?

From what book do you derive the names of countless angels for use in ceremonial magick, such as those of the Shem Ha Mephoresh?

What book must you inevitably possess if you want to make use of the magical powers of the Psalms?

Yes indeed! If these Catholic priests want to burn any books associated with magick and witchcraft, by rights the first book they should be setting on fire is the Bible itself!

Now I appreciate that some may find this idea a little controversial, so I propose a compromise:

I hereby give these priests permission to burn the occult fiction novels of Alex Sumner – so long as they pay for them first.

Seriously – all of my novels contain graphic descriptions of actual magick in between all of the scenes of people either being murdered or having sex (a lot of the sex scenes are themselves examples of magicKal rituals).

Furthermore, the print editions are all made of good quality paper which I am assured combusts easily, perhaps with a little dash of lighter-fuel (NB: please don’t try this in a confined space, for health and safety reasons).

Finally, Amazon do deliver to Poland. I suggest buying in bulk to make use of economies of scale – when you buy five or more at once, the total shipping averages at less than a pound per book, although obviously for a decent sized conflagration on a cold night, obviously you would need a lot more.

Hey! Why not get one for each of your parishioners? They could be made to feel a part of the event by each having their own copy of one of my novels to add to the blaze – have them symbolically throw on their book each one in turn. You could give them out with the Holy Communion at Mass, make it easy to distribute.

Eternal Witch, by Alex Sumner ©2018

I suggest you start off with Eternal Witch, not just because it is my latest one, but also because it features of a real-life Scottish woman being burned at the stake in the late sixteenth century.

So happy incinerating, and make sure you only buy original purposes and not pay for pirated copies, as you don’t want to be breaking the eighth commandment now, do you?

Do you prefer The Hermetic Tarot over the Rider Waite tarot? – Quora

The Hermetic Tarot

The Rider Waite Tarot Deck

(A2A) I own both decks: for my own particular reasons I prefer using the Hermetic Tarot over Rider-Waite, and usually end up recommending it to others (I even bought a copy of the Hermetic Tarot as a Christmas present for my girlfriend!)

Because I am keenly interested in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the Hermetic Tarot is my go-to deck, because it is an actual GD deck. It closely follows the designs specified in Book T, which is the Golden Dawn’s inner order teachings on the Tarot; it includes the astrological attributions of all 78 cards; and each card features divine and angelic Hebrew names which reflects the Qabalistic associations thereof. It is thus an ideal deck to complement Golden Dawn teachings.

The Rider-Waite deck, whilst not completely incompatible with the Golden Dawn, is not GD-specific, despite the fact that A E Waite and Pixie Coleman-Smith were both (at one time) GD members. The Rider-Waite deck is more generic in outlook. It is thus perfectly suitable for people who just want to use it for Tarot divination: the fact that it is fully illustrated in colour makes it especially suitable for giving readings to clients. So although I prefer the Hermetic Tarot, that’s not to say the Rider-Waite deck is not a good deck in its own right.

You Can Own The House Where Aleister Crowley Raised Satan!

You now have the opportunity to own this desirable little residence in Cornwall, where Aleister Crowley once conjured up the devil, causing the death of one woman and driving another man insane.

Aleister Crowley in A.'.A.'. regalia making the sign "Vir."

Did someone mention my name?

Yes indeed! I’m aware that Estate Agents come up with a complete load of bullshit sometimes, but I presume they have now scraped below the bottom of the barrel by actually using some of the Great Beast’s more salacious (allegedly) activities as marketing gumph.

Carn Cottage, between St Ives and St Just in Cornwall, may in Estate Agent language be charitably described as a “Period piece that would suit a home improvement enthusiast,” or in English as a “dilapidated eyesore that hasn’t been touched in over fifty years.”

Exterior of Carn Cottage, in disrepair and overgrown by bushes: with free abandoned car thrown in!

What actually Crowley did there is hard to make out. In the language of tabloid journalism, he was said to have conjured up the Devil there in 1938: in more sober occultist language, he conjured up something which an onlooker claimed to be a “Lizard Demon” – which could actually mean anything from a harmless Salamander to one of my old friends from the Goetia – but was enough to freak those inexperienced magicians present well and truly out.

Incidentally: I tried looking this up on a map, and noticed that the place is on a direct line passing through St Michael’s Mount and Carnac in France – so perhaps it was chosen because of it Ley Line positioning?

The current owner, I now read, wants someone like an artist or an author to take it over – presumably because she is fed up with teenagers breaking in just so they could say they have spent the night in a haunted house. I admit I’m tempted … although if I walk in and find a load of dead bodies walled up in the cellar, it will start feeling like the plot of really frightening horror story.

PS: This sketch from Armstrong & Miller seems appropriate at this point:

What the Stars Have In Store For… Gareth Southgate

Gareth Southgate, England Manager

Gareth Southgate was born on 3rd September 1970, in Watford, Hertfordshire, in England. Birth time unknown (as far as I can find out), so I have approximated it to 12 noon for the purpose of computing his horoscope, as follows:

Gareth Southgate, 3rd September 1970, Watford, Herts, 12 noon (approximated).

This may be briefly analysed thus:

Gareth is a mastermind and a healer, but his emotions are rather whimsical. Friendship is what makes him emotionally happy.

He thinks in a fruitful way, but can communicate his thoughts and needs in an impatient way, and might often be hasty and impulsive – in doing so going against his natural inclination for patience and caution.

He expresses his energy in an efficient way: when he becomes angry, he can become violent. He prefers to stand out in a crowd than to follow. He should watch for a tendency to be stubborn or dogmatic, which can impede his progress in life and cause unnecessary delays or obstacles.  He can be very temperamental, but he tends to get over things quickly.

In love he will be thoughtful and he seeks support.

Attracts the most good fortune he puts his “all” into a project or undertaking, and uses his magnetic powers to heal others. Enthusiastic for deeper studies and meanings, all that is taboo or mysterious, psychology. Values decisiveness, intensity, willpower, commitment, and strength. Very strong problem solver who cuts to the chase.

You are very persistent in carrying out your goals.  On the positive side, you are a tireless worker and have determination, discipline, organizing ability and can go the distance when those around you fall. Hard work is your forte. Your feelings are serious, well-controlled and not easily changed, although at times it may be hard for you to forgive and forget. Loyalty is important to you. Building structures that last is a need you have.

Otherwise he has an easy, likeable charm: although he finds the Mr Nice-Guy image that the public have created for him both a blessing and a curse.

The celebrities he is most like, personality speaking, are fellow footballer-turned-manager Ruud Gullit, English monarch Richard the Lionheart … and Tsar Ivan The Terrible.

(l-r), Gullit, Lionheart, Terrible.

Alex Sumner’s answer to Can a female get a 32nd or 33rd degree in masonry? – Quora

Sure they can! It would just not be recognised as regular by male Freemasonry, and neither would the body that conferred it.

Incidentally, there are co-Masonic bodies which do work the degrees of the Ancient and Accepted Rite: possibly women-only Masonic bodies as well, but I am not acquainted with them.

Alex Sumner’s answer to Do Masons know the truth about Extraterrestials? – Quora

No, we’re nice people really!

Freemasons on this planet do not currently recognise any Grand Lodges or Masonic obediences of a non-Earth origin. Hence we are not in Amity with any Extraterrestrial Masons, and if there is any Alien Masonic activity happening on this planet it would be considered “Clandestine”: i.e. if a regular Freemason tried to take part in it, he would be subject to Masonic Disciplinary Proceedings.

Furthermore, if an extraterrestrial applied for membership of a regular lodge here on Earth, it would run into problems. The qualifications for membership are to be a free *man* aged twenty-one years or more, who believes in a Supreme Being. Hence there might be arguments over whether the extraterrestrial can properly be said to be a “man” or not.

More prosaically: Freemasons probably do know the truth about Extraterrestrials, as many of them (Freemasons that is) are intelligent men who keep up to date with current thinking on astronomy. Freemasonry itself does not have an official opinion on the matter.

Occult related video of the day: “As Above, So Below” by Tom Tom Club

Came across this from their 1982 debut album. The lyrics actually describe a method of Tattva exploration by clairvoyance, although the Golden Dawn did not recommend holding “the symbol to your forehead.”

Spell To Get A Snow-Day Off Work Or School

Empower this sigil, which is the Sigil of Ithaqua The Wind-Walker, with the following incantation:

Ia Ithaqua!
Come, ye Wendigo!
Ia Ithaqua!
Snow Snow Snow!
Ia Ithaqua!
School and Work: No!
Ia Ithaqua!
Snow Snow Snow!

NB: as those who know their Cthulhu Mythos will appreciate, this is tantamount to summoning one of the Great Old Ones, so this probably won’t work without a human sacrifice or two. Have fun!
